PADI Advanced Open Water Diver is the next step for Open Water Divers looking to learn more about scuba diving. The course is comprised of five adventure dives and the corresponding training that teaches you new diving skills and expands your experience level.
The only prerequisite for the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver training course is Open Water Diver certification. Advanced Open Water may in fact be taken immediately after you obtain your Open Water certification.
Advanced Open Water consists of two required specialties: Underwater Navigation and Deep Diver. Students also complete three additional specialty dives of their choice. Additional options include:
- Underwater Photography
- Wreck Diver
- Drift Diver
- Night Diver
- Peak Performance Buoyancy
- Underwater Naturalist
- Underwater Videographer
For each specialty dive you will review the course materials in the Advanced Open Water workbook and DVD and complete knowledge reviews with your instructor before completing your specialty dives.
After successfully completing your Advanced Open Water Certification, you will have a host of new skills. Some dive operations may also require this certification for divers seeking to do deeper or more challenging dives.
